Project Christmask

November was all about making masks for the holidays, including gifts for friends, family, classmates, and teachers.

I made almost as many mini-mask ornaments for a school fundraiser, including enough to make a Christmas tree decorated with 26 unique mini-masks and coordinating red and green balls.

My son wanted to share a little Halloween spirit with his classmates, so I made a batch of fabric face masks in Halloween prints. This was my first real test of batch-sewing a big group of masks and it was a success! They were so cute together I almost didn’t want to disperse them among the class!

This project was a good example of the importance of the scale of a print in relation to the size of the mask. Especially in a child’s mask, it helps to have a small scale print. This is the “Ghouls & Goodies” collection by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda. So cute, and perfect for a group of tiny masks.
