Wrap Blouse

PATTERN: Butterick 9234 (1960)
Completed summer 2018

I made this wrap blouse in a couture sewing workshop with Susan Khalje in the summer of 2018. It’s silk charmeuse with silk organza interfacings at the collar and cuffs. We extended the blouse below the waist a few inches. I had barely enough fabric to work with: a wrap blouse takes a lot of fabric due to the overlap and the sleeves were very full. I had to piece the collar facings below the break point. The intersection of the two sides of the collar at the back of the neck was a doozy! All the raw edges are hand overcast. It is lovely and light as air.
