Border Print Dress

PATTERN: Simplicity 3413 (1960)
Completed April 2019

I had just 1-2/3 yards of this lovely double border print cotton sateen that I decided to make into an Easter dress for my daughter. I used silk dupioni for the sash, under collar, and bias hem facings. It is underlined in cotton batiste. After I cut all the bodice pieces, I used what was left for the skirt. It is only about 2/3 as wide as the pattern called for, but it’s just gathered at the top and it’s still plenty full. I used the same dupioni to make a matching hair bow for my daughter and bow ties for the gentlemen in the family.
